Overview

• Director is a multimedia tool used for building content rich applications for CDs, DVDs, kiosks, and the Internet.
• Supports most major media formats, such as DVD-Video, Windows Media, RealMedia, QuickTime, and Macromedia Flash
• Uses two programing languages, JavaScript syntax or Lingo.
• Director can incorporate photo-quality images, full-screen or long-form digital video, sounds, animation, 3D models, text, hypertext, bitmaps, and Macromedia Flash content.
• Can be used to create complex animations
• Creates content accessible to people with disabilities

Director has a limited internal paint program. Use PhotoShop to create graphics to import into Director.

Technical Terms

"Embedding" multimedia objects into a web page:

Multimedia objects such as Shockwave and QuickTime are not automatically supported by internet browsers. "Embedding" multimedia objects into a webpage directs the internet browser to use an external application or plugin to display the file.
